Sing with ACS:
Thank you for your interest in auditioning for Alexandria Choral Society.
We are looking for singers to join us for our 50th season in 2019-20! The audition process involves vocalization and aural acuity drills, and sight-singing. Singers should also be prepared to perform (a cappella) a simple tune that showcases their vocal beauty and range (such as The Star-Spangled Banner or Amazing Grace).
Alexandria Choral Society rehearses on Tuesday evenings from August through May at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Alexandria, with four concerts throughout the season.
Please click the link below and fill out the short form to provide us with a little background information about yourself. We want to schedule a time for you to observe a rehearsal prior to auditioning.
REHEARSALS AND DUES
Regular rehearsals take place at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, unless otherwise noted or announced. You may not miss more than two of the rehearsals and the dress rehearsal for any given concert in order to sing in the concert. If you miss a rehearsal, please speak to another singer from your section prior to the start of the next rehearsal to get any markings or notations.
Dues for the season are $325, and are to be paid by the first rehearsal by check, cash, or credit card. However, dues may be split into two installments if necessary. This includes the cost of music.
Alexandria Choral Society's email newsletter “Tempo” is the primary means of distributing information to members.
We also use a Facebook group for sharing choir news and to stay connected with fellow singers.
PRO CORO ALEXANDRIA
Pro Coro Alexandria (PCA) is a chamber ensemble chosen from members of ACS. PCA performs at ACS concerts, as well as at additional performances throughout the season. Information about auditions, rehearsals, and additional performances will be communicated at rehearsals and via email.
Alexandria Choral Society is a non-profit 501(c)3 corporation. Membership dues and concert ticket sales cover only a portion of our operating expenses. In order to operate as we do, we need to raise a considerable amount of additional money from grants, fundraising activities, and donations. Each member’s involvement is needed, expected, and greatly appreciated!
Singers are allowed to miss up to two rehearsals per concert cycle for an emergency, travel, or sickness.
Involvement can include:
Promoting concert ticket sales.
Getting involved with our Silent Auction(s).
Participating in our various community involvement events.
Promoting and participating in our annual Spring2ACTion fundraising event.
Helping with the set-up and clean-up at each concert.
Joining the board.
