Performances

We open our season in October with OUT OF THE DEEP, featuring John Rutter’s exquisite Requiem, a large work for mixed choir and organ. In November and December, we’ll bring our singing to communities throughout Alexandria in our second annual SNOW GLOBE SERIES, free pop-up concerts sure to ring in the holidays for all! And we’ll wrap up 2022 with a traditional holiday performance featuring well-known favorites and new winter works in a program titled SNOW ON SNOW.

In March, we’ll perform AMERICAN FRAGMENTS with repertoire by American composers like William Averitt (Afro-American Fragments), Jeffery Ames (Live Long and Prosper), William Grant Still (Plain Chant for America), Moira Smiley (Bring Me Little Water Silvy), and more. The concert will be followed by our annual Gala & Silent Auction. May’s ON THE OTHER SIDE OF CHANGE features female composers, including a commissioned work by Dr. Melissa Dunphy with text by Alexandria’s poet laureate Zeina Azzam. Plus, we’ll be joined by a youth ensemble selected via our Sing- Off Grant Program.

As a non-profit performing arts organization, ACS strongly believes that financial capacity should never be a barrier to experiencing quality choral programming. That’s why we have proudly adopted a PAY-WHAT-YOU-CAN pricing model for our concerts. Our suggested price for each ticket is $30 (all tickets are general admission), but we invite you to pay the amount that is affordable to you — whether that be more or less.

We hope you’ll join us this season! Thank you for supporting the Alexandria Choral Society!

At this time, ACS requires all patrons to be masked at all performances. We will continue to adapt our COVID-19 policies throughout the season, and will update our website as necessary.
