Requiem: A Festival of Reflection
This May, the Alexandria Choral Society turns inward with Requiem: A Festival of Reflection, centered on Brahms' Ein deutsches Requiem (A German Requiem).
Unlike traditional requiems, which offer prayers for the souls of the dead, Brahms' Requiem is concerned with comforting the living. As he wrote to the work's Bremen conductor, he would gladly have omitted "German" from the title altogether, calling it simply "of Mankind" — solace meant for every listener, regardless of faith or background.
Join us as we acknowledge our losses, and find comfort, strength, and hope in the community around us.
As a non-profit performing arts organization, ACS strongly believes that financial capacity should never be a barrier to experiencing quality choral programming. That’s why we have proudly adopted a PAY-WHAT-YOU-CAN pricing model for this concert.
Our suggested price for each seat is $30 (all seats are General Admission), but we invite you to pay the amount that is affordable for you - whether that be more or less. When our patrons pay whatever they can, it allows us to bring our music to more people, while remaining financially healthy.
