Christ Church

Join the Alexandria Choral Society’s chamber chorus Pro Coro Alexandria for History Has Its Eyes on You on Saturday, April 18th at 4:00 pm at Christ Church. Presented in the very sanctuary where George Washington once worshipped, this powerful program explores our relationship with time, legacy, and the weight of being witnesses to history.

The concert opens with selections from Hamilton, highlighting George Washington’s most profound moment in the musical, capturing the weight of leadership and the echo of decisions that shape generations. The revolutionary spirit continues with “One Day More” from Les Misérables, while Jennifer Lucy Cook’s Time invites reflection on the relentless, sweeping nature of history.
At the heart of the program lies Palestrina’s timeless Sicut Cervus, a Renaissance masterpiece that speaks to the timeless longing of the human soul.  This sacred music connects us to generations of voices who have sung these same notes, creating a living bridge between past and present.

This remarkable concert takes place in George Washington's own church in Alexandria, adding profound historical resonance to an evening already steeped in themes of legacy and time. As we sing about Washington's leadership and the weight of historical decisions, we do so in the very sanctuary where he once worshipped, a sacred space that witnessed the birth of our nation.
Join Pro Coro Alexandria for an evening that reminds us we are all part of history's unfolding story, and that the choices we make today will echo in the songs of tomorrow.

As a non-profit performing arts organization, ACS strongly believes that financial capacity should never be a barrier to experiencing quality choral programming. That’s why we have proudly adopted a PAY-WHAT-YOU-CAN pricing model for this concert.

Our suggested price for each seat is $30 (all seats are General Admission), but we invite you to pay the amount that is affordable for you - whether that be more or less. When our patrons pay whatever they can, it allows us to bring our music to more people, while remaining financially healthy.
