This May, join the Alexandria Choral Society and Inspira Dance for a vibrant collaboration that explores the universal human impulse to move. I Hope You Dance is more than a concert; it is a testament to the partnership between singing and dancing, proving that when life challenges us, we still find our rhythm.
The stage will come alive with an intergenerational cast, featuring the voices of ACS alongside adult and youth dancers from the Inspira Dance school. For the spirited Latin pulses of "Bailara" and "Quien Sigue" to the nostalgic Americana of "I'm a Country Boy" and the driving energy of Dolly Parton's "Nine to Five," this program spans genres and cultures. A centerpiece of the evening is the powerful "Ain't No Grave," which integrates American Sign Language (ASL) to explore movement as a language of the soul.
We are also proud to feature the Mark Twain Middle School Advanced Mixed Choir, winners of our annual Sing Off grant, further highlighting the beauty of voices across all ages. Join us for an evening that honors our resilience, our community, and the joy of finding harmony in motion.
As a non-profit performing arts organization, ACS strongly believes that financial capacity should never be a barrier to experiencing quality choral programming. That’s why we have proudly adopted a PAY-WHAT-YOU-CAN pricing model for this concert.
Our suggested price for each seat is $30 (all seats are General Admission), but we invite you to pay the amount that is affordable for you - whether that be more or less. When our patrons pay whatever they can, it allows us to bring our music to more people, while remaining financially healthy.
